Passport issuance cascaded to NAKURU and EMBU

The Ministry of Immigration and Registration of Persons has decentralized issuance of pass ports to its Nakuru and Embu offices.
The service is meant to enable more Kenyans acquire the travel document, while avoiding the difficulty of having to travel long distances to access it.
Residents of South Rift and Upper Eastern can now enjoy faster and more efficient services following the successful installation and testing of the passport issuance systems.
The Director of Immigration Services Ambassador Albert Musasia witnessed the successful test runs of a passport system by the officers in Nakuru. He stated that residents of South Rift had the opportunity of not only acquiring the document easily, but also access other immigration services.
Inauguration of the two offices will be presided over by the Minister of state for Immigration and Registration of Persons Hon. Otieno Kajwang later in June.
Alongside the issuance of passports, other immigration services such as passes, visas, citizenship will be provided.
In an effort to bring services closer to the people, more Immigration Offices are planned for Kisii, Nyeri and Machakos in the 2011/2012 financial year.
